On October 27, 2020, at 12 noon – 1 pm EST Penn State Law’s Center for Agricultural and Shale Law will be conducting a webinar titled “Quarterly Dairy Industry Legal Update.”
This webinar commences a quarterly series of such webinars
to be held at the conclusion of each calendar quarter.
The webinar series will provide a 30-minute round-up of the
past quarter’s legal and regulatory developments impacting the dairy industry and
a 30-minute focused topic of interest to dairy producers and professionals.
Dates established for additional installments in the series
are January 26, April 27 and July 27, 2021.
The round-up portion will examine recent developments in federal
and, where applicable, state price and income supports, risk management, legislative
and regulatory reform, new legislation., workforce, international trade, animal
health and welfare regulation and litigation in state and federal courts which
impact the dairy sector.
The first focused topic will be a discussion with Marvin Beshore,
Esq., an attorney in private practice in Harrisburg, PA, who served as lead
legal counsel on the successful petition to the USDA Agricultural Marketing
Service to establish a Federal Milk Marketing Order (FMMO) for California. FMMO 51 has now been in place for approximately
two years and we’ll discuss why it was requested, how it was accomplished, whether
the objectives of its establishment have been accomplished and what impact it
has had, if any, outside its boundaries.
