On June 6, 2013, the Senate voted 75-22 to end the farm bill
debate. The Senate
version of the farm bill, most recently titled Agriculture Reform, Food and
Jobs Act of 2013, includes cutting from farm spending by repealing direct
payments, among other cuts, and reducing spending on the supplemental nutritional
assistance program (SNAP). The next step in the process will be for the Senate
to vote for final passage. According to thehill.com,
the House vote on its version of the farm bill will likely come later in June.
